HANA CERVINKOVA is widely recognized for her work in historic preservation. From 2006 to 2011, she was the CEO of a public-owned management company that oversees the historic cultural facility and exhibition grounds, the UNESCO World Heritage site, Centennial Hall, one of Europe’s most important modernist architectural complexes, turning it into a major cultural and conference center of the 21st Century.
Born in the Czech Republic, Cervinkova was educated in the United States (B.A. Temple University, 1997, Ph.D. in Anthropology, New School for Social Research, 2003). After defending her doctoral dissertation focused on Czech the military’s transformation following the country’s accession to NATO, she moved to Poland with her husband. There, she founded the International Institute for the Study of Culture and Education – IISCE at the University of Lower Silesia in the city of Wroclaw where she is now Dean. She also works as a researcher at the Institute of Ethnology at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague.
