DAVID HOWELL is a professor and the director of the Doctoral Program in Public and Urban Policy. He was Chair of the Urban Policy Program from 1994 to 2001 and was the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 2003-5 at The Milano Graduate School. He is a Faculty Research Fellow at the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis at the New School and a Research Scholar at the Political Economy Research Institute (University of Massachusetts at Amherst).
His research focuses on labor markets and recent publications have examined the effects of labor market institutions and social policy on patterns of unemployment in Europe and the United States, the nature of recent changes in skill requirements and the determinants of relative wage trends in the U.S, and the effects of immigration on the economic status of foreign and native-born workers in New York City.
