Informed democratic action, along with God and the Devil, is in the details. This post shows how when you do look closely new problems, but also new courses of action, appear. The conventions of journalism move the reader across a connected field of political complexity, leaving unexamined the movement. One way of making sense of it all is through Harvey’s neo-Marxist dilemma, socialism versus environmentalism. Another would be to consider the common struggle for open dialogue, both against the restrictions of intellectual property law and against the neo- authoritarianism in Putin’s Russia. Pressing political challenges appear, suggesting alternative courses of action.
